Maybe it has to do with the initial 404, or maybe not. If "Check device for bad blocks" is ticked, then the status bar displays a message regarding download of the ldlinux.bss file until the passes are done, rather than updating to indicate that the check is underway or that the file was downloaded successfully, or something else to reflect the current state of operation of the program. I confirmed, by performing an internet search, that these values match the ones from the official image.
